The Problem of Suffering
Most people, when confronted by intense suffering or tragedy in their own lives or others, wonder what this means about God; does God exist, does God care? The problem of evil and suffering is the deepest, longest and some would say the toughest hurdle for many skeptics when considering the existence of God and their own lives. It remains the mystery most Christians don’t even know how to begin thinking about.
But Jesus changed all that.
In this seminar, we will discuss the problem of pain and suffering philosophically, theologically - and personally. We will see just how differently the gospel approaches suffering from almost any other perspective. You will feel better equipped to deal with suffering in your own life and to help endure and explain it to those around you.
Finding the Will of God
Christians are perpetually perplexed by the issue, "what does God want me to do with my life"? While His general will is pretty clear (our sanctification), his specific will is not nearly as clear. This seminar will discuss the issues of what God’s will actually is, and how to navigate life with wisdom and a sense of being in His will consistently. The philosophical, theological and practical aspects of the will of God will be examined, and a way forward for each of us will be discussed.
Evolution, Creation, and the Gospel
Many Christians have begun to doubt the truth of their faith, and many skeptics have been kept from pursuing Christianity, by the cultural narrative that science has disproved the Bible. This seminar will focus upon the tensions that have arisen between gospel truth and scientific evidence, paying particular attention to issues of creation and evolution. You should be able to navigate many of the basic issues that presently exist between Christianity and science in a more thoughtful and thorough way after this seminar.

Mental Health: A Dialogue
Dr. Lee, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, will speak with us about mental illness from a medical perspective and through the lens of the gospel. The secondary goal is to give this often stigmatized topic a safe space to be discussed so as a church we can bear one another's burdens with greater love and understanding.
Neighbourly Love: Engagement
Rick Tobias, life-long anti-poverty advocate, will educate us on the systemic issues of poverty in our city. We will also be challenged and equipped as a church to think about how to be good neighbours in our new home.
