child care worker

In this part-time position, you will work with the Grace Toronto Church Children’s Ministry Director to  provide child care during programs provided outside of Sunday GTKids Service. 

Our Children's Ministry is looking for a caring, compassionate Child Care Worker who has experience  caring for children ages 6 months to school age. We are committed to providing top quality care for  students who attend our programs, including our weekly Moms Group meetings and other events  requiring childcare such as conferences and workshops.  

key RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care 

  • Attend required training provided by Grace Toronto Church (GTC) 

  • Maintain communication with parents and contacts parents in emergency situations - Execute a circle time routine which allows children to cultivate wonder and intrigue about  God's word and creation 

  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviours in line with GTC’s Mission, Vision and Values - Adhere to work schedule to ensure program stays within ratio and provides required adequate  notice to supervisor regarding unexpected scheduling changes. 

  • Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to  Child Protection Services 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications/ skills / experience

  • High school diploma/GED preferred 

  • 1+ years’ child care experience 

  • Possess a valid CPR and First Aid certifications or willing to attend training - Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills 

  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, morning and mid-late afternoons and occasional  weekends

  • Caring and compassionate attitude a must
