Speaker: Graham Scharf

Graham Scharf trained and served as a second- and third-grade teacher in Brooklyn, New York through the NYC Teaching Fellows. He then had the privilege of being a full-time father to his two girls (now 17 and 12) for ten years. During that season, he co-founded a web service to help parents understand child development, wrote The Apprenticeship of Being Human: Why Early Childhood Parenting Matters to Everyone, and provided workshops to parents in the US and Canada. He subsequently worked at a research institute that explores how culture is changing – and what schools, families, and social institutions can do. Graham now volunteers teaching children and adults at his church and through a Christian Community Development organization in his community. He is working to launch Learning is Learned to help disadvantaged students learn how to learn.
