Join us every Sunday 9:45 to 10:15 AM in the Main Hall for "catechesis"--a "teaching" time to learn and explore the central beliefs of the Christian faith. All ages welcomed. Everyone will be expected to have memorized the Question and Answer of the week, and we will spend our time unpacking the meaning of these answers together.
Getting Ready
- First, visit the New City Catechism website yet, here it is:
There are several videos here worth watching to give you a better idea why we believe it's important to dive into catechesis as a church.
- Second, there are a number of ways of accessing the 52 catechism questions we'll be going through. The website above is one. There is also an app available for phones and hard copies you can get through Lyndon Jost.
- Third, you're encouraged to memorize the "adult" Q&A; but if you do have young children, feel free to memorize the child Q&A as a family! We want this to be a blessing and not a burden to families, so if the shorter is more feasible, please use it!
- Fourth, on Sunday, Oct 29 is Q&A #1: "What is our only hope in life and death?" "That we are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death, to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ." Get ready for some quizzing this Sunday morning, 9:45 am!
The Lord grant us grace in memorizing, understanding and applying what we learn together this week and through the year.
